The term "mortal world" is used to describe any planet on the mortal plane that is protected by a dimensional barrier. Most of these worlds are inhabited by one or more mortal, souled species.

Because of their barrier, the mortals on these worlds are not able to interact with creatures existing outside the mortal plane such as angels or demons. If the barrier is broken, this seperation ends and the world is instead classified as an open world.
